Purpose of role

Develop standard electrical, instrumentation and automation solutions for the Thickener & Clarifier Product Group (TCPG).

Role Description

Develop standard control panels for the China Domestic (CD) and Silk Road (SR) markets.
Develop standard control panels for the global market.
Help develop instrumentation and automation solutions with the Thickener & Clarifier and Automation product groups.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities

• Lead development of cost-effective control panel solutions using EPLAN software for the CD, SR and global markets:
• Develop standard PLC designs and programming for Siemens and Allen-Bradley hardware
• Develop standard marshalling panel design
• Create product documentation to effectively sell and deliver these solutions
• Support development of new instrumentation and automation solutions, including:
• Creation of a remote monitoring solution
• Programming of advanced machine control for thickener drives and rake lift (SMART rakelift)
• Working collaboratively with the Automation product group
• Review existing product designs as required to improve product competitiveness in China and other export markets
• Update and maintain general TCPG electrical specifications
• Support Procurement and Global Sourcing teams in supplier development
• Provide feedback to Product Managers on local market expectations with respect to performance of equipment
• Collaborate on new product designs with the TCPG global team
• Support troubleshooting cases related to delivery, product warranty, services and spares
• Support product QEHS, compliance and NCR management

Requirements & competencies

• Degree qualified electrical engineer
• Minimum 5 years’ experience
• Languages: fluent Mandarin & English
• Experience with PLC design & programming, marshalling panels, EPLAN software and VSD’s/VFD’s
• Knowledge of standards and codes in electrical engineering
• Ability to travel when required
• Ability to work to a schedule as well as set, follow and achieve deadlines
• Ability to work independently
